How to Make Money by Blogging

The amount of money you can earn by blogging could be a lot or a little. If you are blogging as a freelancer for someone else, the pay range is generally from $120.00 per month to $1000 per month. The income may be from a flat rate or a combination of base pay, paid reviews or per page views.

To find these gigs go to sites like Guru, Elance, iFreelance, freelancewritinggigs, Craigslist, Blogger Jobs, Problogger, and Freelance Blogging Jobs.

According to Problogger, the amount per month people made in 2008 from their own blog ranged from less than $10.00 to $20,000 or more. Some of the people that make huge profits from blogging also have a website like PlentyofFish.com, which makes over 3 million dollars a year, according to WebPublishing.me. While we may aspire to making that much money blogging, it seems it takes a website with a good product to accomplish that goal, along with the blog.

Some of the methods for earning blog money are listed below.

  • CPC Ads from networks like Google Adsense or AdBrite...Adbrite supplies inline ads by CPC and CPC banners. CPC means cost-per-click.

  • Adify supplies CPC and CPM ads...CPM means cost-per-thousand. The M is the Roman numeral meaning 1000.

Affiliate marketing is another way to make money blogging. Some of the affiliate marketing sites are Amazon, Clickbank, Commission Junction, FlexOffers, and Linkshare. To find affiliate programs for a certain niche search the niche. For example, searching for music affiliate programs found 43, 700, 000 results. These include iTunes and Virtual Sheet Music. Narrowing down the topic to musical instruments returns 2, 470, 000 sites. These include Musicians Friend and Rayburn Music.

When deciding on an affiliate program that suits your blog's topic, make sure to join programs that offer at least 15% commission. Some offer less and others more. Obviously, the higher the commission the more you make on a sale and fewer sales can still generate pretty good money.

When looking for affiliate programs find out if the program you're interested in is reputable, pays affiliates regularly, and if it offers the customer a money back guarantee.

Patience is a virtue and it takes patience to make money blogging. Building a good readership before monetizing your blog is important. Statistics say that only 5% of affiliate marketers succeed in making a good income through their marketing efforts. But with a blog that has good content and new content often, and a solid reader base—you are on your way to gaining money through blogging.

I so need this information. It serves as a pep talk for me. I know one hubber doing elance.com - I didn't know about the other sites. This is good because I can do both - some freelance blogging for others and (finally) finish my own blog.

Good information here. Thank you!

I'm always so amazed by how much POF makes, though I'm sure their hosting costs are high--last I read, he had like one employee or something, so even if half their money goes to expenses... That's still a mighty big profit! Thanks for the enticing article on blogging for money.
